Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween everyone! We decided to take Callie trick-or-treating at the mall tonight.  It was perfect! She loved running around the mall and after a few minutes actually figured out that if she held out her little pumpkin bag, people would put candy in it!  She had a blast! And she's currently on such a sugar high I'm pretty sure she's never going to bed....

At first Callie was really kind of confused about the whole thing...

But after a few minutes she got into it and started marching around the mall.

Trick or Treat!

Taking a break to inspect the goods.

Then the sampling began....   First, a Three Musketeers Bar.

Sharing with Dada

I love candy!

Now a gummy ring.

Smiling with Mama

Then we met up with Cullan.

Callie loved his Elmo costume!

Callie and Cullan spent a few minutes picking out some Christmas gifts...

Then Callie chased Cullan around the mall.

She finally caught him.

And they decided to have a crawling race...  on the mall floor.  It was very sanitary :)

It was a great Halloween! I hope you all enjoyed your Halloween too!

Halloween Treat

Callie's class at daycare is having a Halloween Party tomorrow.  They asked each child to bring in a treat so I made these fruit salad Jack-O-Lanterns for her to share with her class!
They are adorable and fairly easy to make!  I just cut the top off of the orange.  Hollowed it out and saved the orange to add to my fruit salad.  Then I carved a Jack-O-Lantern face into each one.
Finally, I filled them all with fruit salad!

They're really cute and I hope Callie and her class enjoy them! :)

Just another Monday night at the Golden's....

Callie had so much fun painting her pumpkin last night that she woke up this morning saying "paint! paint!".  And, she had a full-blown tantrum when she saw the paint in the kitchen and I wouldn't let her paint instead of eating breakfast!  So, when we got home today I decided to let her have some fun and paint a little more.

Things started out so nicely.

After Callie finished her pumpkin, I gave her some paper so the fun could continue!

Then Callie discovered that she could put her fingers in the paint.

This is when things took a turn to messy...

Did you know it's fun to rub paint on your hands like it's soap??

Apparently, paint makes great shampoo too!  And, in case you were wondering - it wasn't a very tasty snack.

Just painting my paper! And... my tray, my hands, my hair, my face and my mom!

"This stuff is great! Do you want some, Mom??"

It was worth the clean up to watch Callie have so much fun :)

Fall Fun!

Today we decided to do some of the fall things we haven't had time for recently!

We went to http://www.sauchukfarm.net/ this morning.
First, we got lost in the corn maze for a little while.

Callie liked spinning the "Simon Says" wheel.

There was a corn box for the kids to play in - but Callie didn't really like it!

We took a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch.

Callie picked the perfect pumpkin!

She was so happy with her choice :)

Enjoying the pumpkin patch!

Then we checked out the spider web.

And Callie loved sticking her head through this cut-out!

And we did the ducky races.

When we got home, we decided to carve our pumpkins - and we let Callie color/paint hers!

She had so much fun!

Andrew carved the Bruin's B onto his.
I carved the new Patriots logo onto mine!

Callie was not happy when pumpkin painting time was over.

And she let us know just how she felt about it!

Bookshelves

I came across this great idea online and decided to do it in Callie's room!  Callie loves to read books but she often pulls ALL of the books off her bookcase looking for the book she wants to read.  So, I made bookshelves out of rain gutters so the books can be on "display" and she can see the covers of her books.  She loves looking at all the books and pulling off her favorite to read.

We even hung one shelf out of her reach so we can put all of the books that she loves to rip up there!

Halloween Mason Jars

I found this idea online earlier this week and decided that today was a good day to do some Halloween crafting!

Materials:
  • Mason Jars - various sizes
  • Paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Tea lights (real or battery operated)
Steps:

  1.  Paint the mason jars whatever color you want to be.  I had to do 2-3 coats to make sure they were really covered.

2.  Let then dry completely then paint on whatever faces/decoration you choose!

3.  Once they are completely dry, put a tea light - real or battery operated - inside.  I chose battery operated ones, just to be safe, because they are more child friendly than real ones!  Now these cool jars are on display on our mantle!

And, as a bonus - here is the Halloween craft that Callie and Andrew did together this morning....
